Care, Planning & Education for the Vaginal Birth After Cesarean
Service Description
More than 70% of women who attempt a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) are successful, but there are specific birth plan items geared toward making this trial of labor more possible. I offer clients VBAC-specific education and support, including personalized childbirth education and birth planning, evidence-based recommendations regarding which labor interventions to include and which to avoid, and advocacy regarding the desire to seek a VBAC. There are many ways to ensure you have a birth experience that is both informed and beautiful, and I am happy to work with you one-on-one to provide education and assistance with birth planning for this unique situation. What's Included: ~Meet-and-Greet Client/Doula Interview (pre-booking session): this can be in-person, telephone, or virtual based on your preference. ~Initial Prenatal Appointment, in-person or virtual, at approximately 32 weeks gestation. ~Pre-Labor Prenatal Appointment, in-person or virtual, at approximately 35 weeks gestation. ~Childbirth education and birth planning ~Once monthly check-ins, virtually or via telephone, prior to 32 weeks gestation (if applicable). ~24/7 telephone support via talk or text throughout pregnancy. ~24/7 on-call availability from 38 weeks gestation until the birth of your baby. * ~Unlimited phone, text, and virtual communication during the early labor phase. ~Continuous in-person support at your chosen birth location from the time active labor is established until 1-2 hours following the birth of your baby.** ~Assistance with postpartum bonding during "The Golden Hour," such as breastfeeding and skin-to-skin contact, as needed and/or desired by you. ~Photos throughout your labor and birth if desired, or referral to a professional birth photographer. Please complete a Contact Form to set up an appointment! * I will make every effort to be available to attend your labor and birth outside of this established window, but the specified timeframe will be reserved for your birth and I will ensure that I am available 24/7 during this time (barring any unforeseen emergency situation). **Where a doula is permitted to be physically present in compliance with facility policy or COVID-19 guidelines. If in-person support is not permitted, the same support will be provided continuously through a virtual platform. It is essential that the client checks with their chosen birth location regarding their doula/labor support person policy prior to booking.
